Spoiling at Home

I am a tightwad and I am not ashamed to say it! I told my husband before Valentine’s Day that we should not bother to buy each other a gift! I don’t think that giving gift will show a person how much they mean or love them. Well aside from that fact, I have to say that we are in recession and that saving as much as we can is very important! People are loosing jobs left and right and frankly? I am not very certain that my husband will still have his job by the end of the year. The company that he is working for, has been operating for 50 +years and they never laid off anyone. They try their best to keep their people by salary freeze, cutting off percentage and a no-overtime allowed and other ways that they can think that can help them keep their people. But this year is just getting worst and now they are talking about laying people for the first time.
Our valentine’s day was still fun minus the gifts! I was glad that it fell on the weekends, that way we can celebrate it with our kids. We played games, watched movies, talk and we helped each other by making dinner & dessert! We made a trifle from what we had in our pantry. I will certainly put the recipe up in my Delish blog later this week. While we are eating it, we were wondering how much calories that’s in the mini-trifle cup. I talked to my cousin and showed her the picture. I told her I might make her one when I go & visit her.She said that it has probably at least 300 calories in it and she said that it might ruin her diet and that she will have her favorite weight loss pill ready by that time. All I can say that it tasted great and we never even spent anything by cooking at home, celebrating the Heart’s Day with the smart way!
