Gardening

I am not a gardener but a housewife can always wish to have one that can be proud of. I have planted couple of things in my life but was never around to keep that coz one of the reason is that I never have my own. I have planted things like peanuts and cabbage in my school garden, potatoes and corn  in my uncles garden, beautiful flower bearing plants in my aunt’s garden but never in my own.

My yard is not that big but there are couple of bushes and flower bearing plants which were planted by the previous owner of this house and I would like to plant new plants of my choice.  I have seen many houses with beautiful gardens, many of them are vegetable bearing and others, were flower bearing and some are deer resistant plants such as that beautiful flower in the picture.

I have a plant bed in front of my house and I kept telling my husband that we should do something about it and plant some beautiful flower bearing plants , however laziness gets in my way and until now, I kept thinking about it.. every time I pass that flower bed in front of my house.

I just don’t know when to start planting though. I heard that different regions has to start at different times so I have to figure out which region does my State belong and when is the right time to start planting!

Check out the frost maps on the US Dept. Agriculture website for the planting zone you are in to avoid frost. But the popular plants can be started when the weather is warm, i.e. Tomatoes, Peppers, Egg Plants etc.
